Last time, we explored the Life Themes with the Sun in Gateway 42, the Gateway of “Growth and Increase”. Now, we move on into Gateway 3, the Gateway known as “Innovating”. It’s part in the Individual Circuitry, and If you have the 3rd Gateway in your Chart, you’ll know that you have this drive to innovate.. And you’ll encounter some resistance. A lot of people will push back; they’ll want to stick with the traditional tried-and-true ways of doing things. So, there’s a lot of trust involved in innovation. Specifically trust in yourself. Whether or not you have anyone else’s support or approval, you’ve got to trust yourself and stay with it.
With that in mind, let’s have a look at the Human Design Life Themes associated with Gateway 3:
The Personal Life Theme: The Laws
With the Conscious Sun in Gate 3, we find ourselves in the Personal Life Theme of “The Laws”. And when we talk about laws here, we’re talking about the rules and regulations that dictate how the planet works. This includes government, but also the unwritten mores and customs of a particular time and place. So, we have Gate 3, which is engaged in bringing about something completely new, and on the Earth side we’ve got Gateway 50, which is the Gate of “Values”, specifically values that serve the community and/or society as a whole.
Gate 3 – Innovating – Breaking with the old ways and implementing the new.
Gate 50 – Values – Honoring the wisdom and values that enrich both the local community and society at large.
Gate 60 – Limitations – Accepting restrictions allows for the possibility of flow and transcendence.
Gate 56 – The Wanderer – The movement and views of the inner world are reflected by those of the outer world.
On the Unconscious side, we have the Sun in Gate 60. Now, those of you who are familiar with Human Design will recognize that Gates 60 and 3 (the two Earth placements) make up a Channel, and it’s the Channel of Mutation. Everything in life is subject to mutation, and laws, rules, and regulations are no exception. Laws require mutation, they require innovation. They need to change with the times in order to continue benefitting the communities they’re meant to serve.
The fourth leg of this Life Theme is Gate 56, on the Unconscious Earth side. It’s the Gateway of the “Wanderer”. It’s engaged in the gateway of finding the stimulation, exploring the world, experiencing other ways of living, other belief systems, other patterns. So, part of this Life Theme is involved in bringing the laws and belief systems into the present tense. And one way to do this is to know what’s out there, and to know what’s needed in a given community at any given time.
Notable people with this Life Theme: Charlie Chaplin, Queen Elizabeth II, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Garner, Kate Hudson
The Fixed Life Theme: Mutation/Innovation
The Sun moves on into the fourth line of Gates 3 and 50, and we enter the Fixed Life Theme of “Mutation”, also known as “Innovation”. If you take a look at the Book of Lines, you’ll see that Gate 3 with the fourth line is called “Associating: realigning with your real sense of purpose”. On the Conscious Earth side, we’re still in Gate 50, which is concerned with honoring the needs of the community. But, on the Unconscious side, the Sun has shifted into Gate 41, and the Earth into Gate 31.
Gate 3 – Innovating – Breaking with the old ways and implementing the new.
Gate 50 – Values – Honoring the wisdom and values that enrich both the local community and society at large.
Gate 41 – Imagination – Limitations open the door for imagination and possibilities.
Gate 31 – Influence – Interrelating and leading others through expressing your natural influence.
Gate 41 is the Gateway of “Imagination”. It gives us the means to envision the things we’d like to encounter in our world, the experiences that would make life more fulfilling. Gate 31 is the Gateway of “Influence”. It’s the voice that guides the way. It indicates what’s really important and where things are headed. So, this Fixed Life Theme represents a real shift in energy here. It moves us out of the laws, where we’re mostly concerned with keeping things up to date and relevant, and into a more innovative, creative, and co-creative space.
The Interpersonal Life Theme: Wishes
The Sun then moves into the fifth and sixth lines of Gates 3 and 50, and we find ourselves in the Interpersonal Life Theme of “Wishes”. It begs the question: why do we have to do the same old things everyone else has done forever? What do we wish for? What do we aspire to? What can we do to make life more fun, more interesting, more expansive. Let’s open some new doorways.
Fifth and sixth lines are always leading, always holding the space for the next reality, the next possibility. So, again, Gate 3 is looking to innovate, while Gate 50 is looking to see how this innovation can serve the community. Gateway 41 is dreaming up new possibilities and opening new horizons. And Gate 31 is telling us how we can go about getting there. So, people with this Life Theme are very capable of bringing about fulfillment in life and opening up new ways of looking at and appreciating life.
Other notable people with this Life Theme: Carmen Electra, Ryan O’Neal, Andie MacDowell, Miranda Kerr, Jessica Lange
