{"id":352316,"date":"2026-03-24T14:33:22","date_gmt":"2026-03-24T18:33:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/?p=352316"},"modified":"2026-03-24T14:33:22","modified_gmt":"2026-03-24T18:33:22","slug":"human-design-life-theme-and-the-book-of-destinies-hexagram-17","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/zh-hant\/human-design-life-theme-and-the-book-of-destinies-hexagram-17\/","title":{"rendered":"Human Design, Life Theme and The Book of Destinies: Hexagram 17"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last time, we explored the Human Design Life Themes with the Sun in <a href=\"https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/human-design-life-theme-and-the-book-of-destinies-hexagram-25\/\">Gateway 25<\/a>, the Gateway of \u201cInnocence\u201d.\u200a Now, we move on into Gateway 17, the Gateway known as \u201cFollowing\u201d. \u200aIt\u2019s an interesting name because \u201cfollowing\u201d can mean all sorts of things. But in this case, we\u2019re using it in terms of <em>following<\/em> a logical progression of how one thought follows another, or something that is considered a fact is followed by another. How do we apply logic in the world? It can be worked in all kinds of different ways. All sorts of books, philosophies, and schools of thought are made up using this concept of logic. It\u2019s the basis of science and reason. It\u2019s how we decide on what\u2019s factual, on what\u2019s fixed in time and space.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ivkuJGG9wRc?si=b0-cczo1w_DhYcLw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With that in mind, let\u2019s have a look at the Human Design Life Themes associated with Gateway 17:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Personal Life Theme: Service<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-352321\" src=\"https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17P.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"397\" height=\"428\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17P.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17P-768x829.jpg 768w, https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17P-1422x1536.jpg 1422w, https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17P-285x308.jpg 285w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 397px) 100vw, 397px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the Conscious Sun in Gate 17, we find ourselves in the Personal Life Theme of \u201cService\u201d. So, Gate 17 is a logical Gateway, and so is Gate 18, the Gateway of \u201cImproving, which is where the Conscious Earth sits. And the act of <em>improving<\/em> something also functions in a logical way (i.e. \u201cThis doesn&#8217;t work very well, we&#8217;re going to take the logical steps to make it work better\u201d).<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gate 17<\/strong> \u2013 Following \u2013 Theories, debate, and discussion temper all thoughts into a base for concepts and ideals to move toward a potential future wellbeing for all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gate 18<\/strong> \u2013 Improving \u2013 All traditions and customs need constant review to find if they are presently wholesome and healthy<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gate 58<\/strong> \u2013 Joyous Vitality \u2013 Embracing the great power and delight of expressing joy and celebrating life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gate 52<\/strong> \u2013 Mountain \u2013 Stillness, patience, and presence provide perspective on all life\u2019s circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Unconscious Sun is in Gateway 58, the Gateway of Joy and \u201cJoyous Vitality\u201d, which also happens to be in the Logic Circuitry. And those of you who are familiar with human design will recognize Gates 18 and 58 make up a Channel, which is the Channel of \u201cJudgment\u201d. And what is <em>judgement<\/em>? We look at something, we consider its function and decide on how to improve it. So, it\u2019s also very much a logical thing.<\/p>\n<p>On the Unconscious Earth side, we have Gate 52, the Gateway of \u201cMountain\u201d, which offers stillness and calm. It\u2019s also a logical Gateway. So, all four Gateways in this Life Theme of \u201cService\u201d are in the Logic Circuitry. And what is \u201cService\u201d when you think about it? It\u2019s a process of bringing benefit to the world around you. It follows a logical process of recognizing a need, an area which requires service, and figuring out the best way to provide that service. While the Sun is in this Life Theme, we are reminded to bring improvement to our world. So, people with this Life Theme are here to bring about benefit for everybody around them as much as possible. And they do this without expecting anything in return.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notable people with this Life Theme:<\/strong> Mariah Carey, Diana Ross, Quentin Tarantino, King Louis XVII<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Fixed Life Theme: Opinions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-352325\" src=\"https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17F.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"397\" height=\"429\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17F.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17F-768x829.jpg 768w, https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17F-1422x1536.jpg 1422w, https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17F-285x308.jpg 285w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 397px) 100vw, 397px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Sun moves on into the fourth line of Gates 17 and 18, and we enter the Fixed Life Theme of \u201cOpinions\u201d. \u200aGate 17 with the fourth line has opinions about influencing other people&#8217;s lives, while Gate 18 is less sure of itself. It does a balancing act between whether or not it knows how to bring about improvements in the world. It doesn\u2019t necessarily always trust itself. And we have to understand that logical Gateways are not individual, they&#8217;re collective. They take a wider view. They&#8217;re basically part of the broader knowledge base for the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gate 17<\/strong> \u2013 Following \u2013 Theories, debate, and discussion temper all thoughts into a base for concepts and ideals to move toward a potential future wellbeing for all.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gate 18<\/strong> \u2013 Improving \u2013 All traditions and customs need constant review to find if they are presently wholesome and healthy<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gate 38<\/strong> \u2013 Opposition \u2013 The individual stands for authenticity against unfairness and untruth.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Gate 39<\/strong> \u2013 Provocation &#8211; finding your way through obstacles opens you up to personal growth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Unconscious Sun now has gone into Gateway 38, the Gateway of \u201cOpposition\u201d. And in this case <em>opposition<\/em> is about those things in life that don\u2019t work, or that aren\u2019t fair. Gate 38 is utterly opposed to unfairness. The Unconscious Earth is in Gate 39, which is the Gateway of \u201cProvocation\u201d. And provocation is about bringing something new into reality. Sometimes, for a new creative concept to emerge and take hold, it needs to be provoked into existence. So, people with this Life Theme of Opinions can be very set on how they bring about improvement, setting a high standard for everyone. It has to go a certain way, and it absolutely has to bring benefit to the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notable people with this Life Theme:<\/strong> Elle MacPherson<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Interpersonal Life Theme: Upheaval<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-352329\" src=\"https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17I.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"432\" srcset=\"https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17I.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17I-768x829.jpg 768w, https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17I-1422x1536.jpg 1422w, https:\/\/evolutionaryhumandesign.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/17I-285x308.jpg 285w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Sun then moves into the fifth and sixth lines of Gates 17 and 18, and we find ourselves in the Interpersonal Life Theme of \u201cUpheaval\u201d. \u200aAgain, with Gate 17 in the fifth and sixth lines, we can end up with very philosophical mental process going on. And Gate 18 with the fifth and sixth lines is looking at how to come out of the conditioning we all go through, especially in our early years, and recognize what makes for a really substantial life.<\/p>\n<p>The Unconscious Sun in Gate 38 is opposed to situations, schemes and laws that are stuck and don&#8217;t serve anybody at all. And the same thing with Gate 39; It\u2019s going to push and push and push until we get some kind of change here. So, with the Life Theme of Upheaval, everything&#8217;s up for grabs. And while the Sun passes through here, Expect to have some rearrangements in your life.<\/p>\n<p>So, people with this Life Theme are agents of change. They have recognition of things that aren\u2019t working. They know what needs improvement. And they have the logical processes needed to bring about that necessary change\u2014and do it in a way that benefits everyone.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Notable people with this Life Theme:<\/strong> \u00a0Warren Beatty, Sam Walton, Vangelis, Lucy Lawless<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s the essence of the Life Themes associated with the 17<sup>th<\/sup> Gateway.
