Last time, we explored the Life Themes with the Sun in Gateway 48, known as “The Well”. Now, the Sun has moved on into Gateway 57, which is known as “The Gentle”, or “The Penetrating Wind”.  It might seem like a contradiction for wind to be both gentle and penetrating, but imagine that you’re strolling through the rolling hills on a beautiful sunny day, taking in the amazing views, and all of a sudden a little breeze picks up. At first it’s a pleasant, cooling breeze, but before you know it, you feel a deeper chill. This gentle breeze has gone all the way through you and suddenly you need to bundle up against the cold.

57 is a Gateway of intuition. And this gentle penetrating wind is a good metaphor for intuition. Intuition allows you to gently penetrate through the surface of things and read into the heart of a situation or a person on a profound level.

 

 

So, with that in mind, let’s have a look at the Human Design Life Themes associated with Gateway 57:

 

The Personal Life Theme: Penetration

The Sun has gone into Gate 57 and the Earth into Gate 51, which opens up the Personal Life Theme of “Penetration”. So, on the one side we’ve got Gate 57 with this very profound intuition, this ability to gently read into situations and into people’s lives on a very deep level. And on the other side, Gate 51 has the ability to perfectly home in on and expound what it is that’s been intuited. Gate 57 picks up on something, and Gate 51 is able to distinguish its essential nature and explain it in a way that makes it clear to everybody involved.

 

• Gate 57 – The Gentle/Penetrating Wind – You proceed gently while paying attention to your intuitive clarity.

 

• Gate 51 – Arousing– Growth through disruptions and drastic changes.

 

• Gate 53 – New Beginnings – Gradually increasing self-knowledge and experience.

 

• Gate 54 – Ambition – Committing to our independence before making helpful connections.

 

The Unconscious Sun is in Gateway 53, the Gateway of “New Beginnings”, which provides the possibility for new experiences in life. And the Unconscious Earth is in Gate 54, the Gateway of “Ambition”, which gives us a push to get out and do something.

Gateway 57 is in the Spleen Center, which means it’s all about awareness and instant recognition. The Spleen Center is our radar that’s scanning to see if we’re in a healthy environment or not, and whether or not things around us need to be upgraded and lifted into a higher plane.

So, people with this Life Theme can read situations and other people very quickly. They can penetrate and get right to the root of what’s going on. If you have this Life Theme, you’ll find that you can actually read people better than they can read themselves. And you have to be very careful with this, because this puts you in a position of being able to very easily take advantage of people. You can push them in ways they don’t really want to go, or, in a more responsible way, you can give them the possibility of becoming more aware in their life.

The Fixed Life Theme: Intuition

The Sun moves on into the fourth line of Gate 57, which brings us into the Fixed Life Theme of “Intuition”. Fourth lines are very particular. They have a tendency to want to be in company. They want to foster agreement and get everybody on the same page. But when it comes to Gate 57 which is so adept at reading into things, questions arise as to how best to share this information. How do you tell people what your intuition is picking up without freaking everyone out?

 

• Gate 57 – The Gentle/Penetrating Wind – You proceed gently while paying attention to your intuitive clarity.

 

• Gate 51 – Arousing– Growth through disruptions and drastic changes.

 

• Gate 62 – Details – Expressing and defining details that are of value to the present and future.

 

• Gate 61 – Inner Truth – Authenticity guides us to what we know to be true.

 

The Unconscious Sun is in Gateway 62, the Gateway of “Expressing Details”. And the Unconscious Earth is in Gate 61, the Gateway of “Inner Truth”, which is the cosmic antenna so to speak. It receives downloads out of the blue, while Gate 62 puts them into words.

So, people with this Life Theme, they’re always caught in this situation of having something potentially profound to share, but not necessarily knowing how it will be received. They’re never quite sure if people are going to get it, if people are going to be put off or upset by it. So, what ends up happening is that they’ll often just stay quiet. There are certain things can be told and there are certain things that can’t be told. It doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the intuition. It might be very profound and absolutely on point, but there’s always that question of how to get it across to people. Which, with the fourth line, is exactly what you want to do.

  

The Interpersonal Life Theme:  The Clarion

Now the Sun goes into the fifth and sixth lines of Gate 57 and this opens up the Interpersonal Life Theme of the “Clarion”.  This is a very powerful Life Theme. And you can tell by the name that this is the Life Theme of somebody who’s got something to broadcast, something that has to be told, something that people need to hear.

Gateway 57 with the fifth and sixth lines perceives things on a very, very deep level—everything is a possible intuitive input for them. And here again we have

Gate 62, which has the potential gift of explaining things in a very logical, organizational way. So, people with this Life Theme perhaps have an easier time with communicating what it is they have to say than the fourth line and the Fixed Life Theme of Intuition.

Three out of the four Gateways involved here (Gates 57, 51, and 61) are in Individual Circuitry. Which is to say they’re all about empowerment. They’re all about acoustics. They’re all about frequencies. They’re involved in raising the bar. They want to find the ways in which we can bring about improvement. And they very often live quite interesting lives. But sometimes they live very difficult lives because they perceive things that nobody else gets. They have a particular message to put out. It’s not necessarily an orthodox message. It’s not necessarily going to follow along with anybody else’s preconceptions of what’s supposed to happen in life, but it’s a very powerful message.

That’s the essence of the Life Themes associated with the 57th Gateway. And as the Sun transits through this Gateway of the Gentle, it’s perceiving things in a very particular way, and it has to be really clear and responsible what it intuits, and what it relays out into the world.
