Last time, we explored Gateway 64, known as the Gate of “Diverse Possibilities”.  Now, the Sun has moved on into Gateway 47, the Gateway of “Realization”. It’s also called the Gateway of Oppression because it involves a huge weight on the mind, a pressure to work things out, to figure out if something is working or not. And what often happens for people with this Gateway is that the penny drops a long time after the relevant situation has passed.

The French have an expression, “l’esprit de l’escalier”, which roughly translates to “staircase wit”, for that frustrating feeling when you think of the perfect witty response just when it’s too late and you’ve already left the conversation. This might be a familiar feeling for people with this Gateway in their Charts.

Gateway 47 can literally wake you up in the middle of the night with the answer you’d been looking for all along. All of a sudden you realize exactly what you should have said that would’ve just capped it all off perfectly. Sometimes the harder you look for the answer, the more evasive it becomes. It’s only when you put your attention on something else that you open yourself up to this moment of clarity. When clarity does arrive, it can be huge. It can cause a complete stop in life, a massive belly laugh, and an enormous relief that at least something in life seems to make sense (for now at least!). Patience, as a virtue, can pay off sometimes.

 

 

 

 

 So, with that in mind, let’s have a look at the Human Design Life Themes associated with Gateway 47:

 

The Personal Life Theme: Rulership

Now, the Sun is in Gate 47, and we have the Conscious Earth in Gate 22, the Gateway of “Grace”. People with Gate 22 have the potential for natural grace, both physical grace and a graciousness demeanor. They also have the potential to be disgraceful. So, Gate 22 plays multiple different ways, which we can see in the balance it creates with Gate 47.  Gate 47 craves clarity; it’s always looking for that realization. But until that realization happens, there can be agitation and headaches. And what Gate 22 does, or has the potential to do, is offer grace and acceptance rather than reflecting or amplifying the agitation and frustration.

So, this particular Life Theme is the Personal Life Theme of “Rulership”. And if you think of the rulers whom history favors most, it’s the ones who have been gracious, the ones that don’t react, the ones that engage with people and help them find what it is that they’re really looking for: a fulfilling life.

 

• Gate 47 – Realization – The process of constantly filtering the contents of your mind to reach the “Aha! moment”.

 

• Gate 22 – Grace – The emotional energy of grace enriches life through beauty, benevolence, and nobility.

 

• Gate 45 – The King or Queen – Gathering together that which best supports a strong community.

 

• Gate 26 – Accumulation – Harnessing willpower and committing to great accomplishments and substantial rewards.

 

Speaking of rulership, on the Unconscious side we have the Sun in Gate 45, the Gateway of “The King or Queen.” This is the person who has the last word. It’s the top end of the Tribal Circuitry, top of the food chain, we might say. And Gate 45 always has the responsibility of taking care of its people, its tribe. How are my people doing? Do they have enough money? Do they have enough food? Do they have a nice place to live? On the other side, the Unconscious Earth is in Gate 26, the Gateway of “Accumulation”, which seeks out those things which have the greatest potential value in life. And this is a major aspect of rulership: recognizing what really serves people, having a sense of responsibility and a natural ability to tune into what has value for people.

The Fixed Life Theme: Realizations

The Sun moves on into the 4th line which brings us into the Fixed Life Theme of “Realizations”. Some call it “Confusions”, but I prefer “Realizations” because it allows space for things to drop into place.  

Here, the Conscious Earth in Gate 22 with the 4th line has the quality of engaging in the world in a non-reactive space, a space that’s focused on providing what it is that’s going to bring benefit for people. Gate 22 always has the potential to find and open the doorway where everyone else sees a brick wall.

 

• Gate 47 – Realization – The process of constantly filtering the contents of your mind to reach the “Aha! moment”.

 

• Gate 22 – Grace – The emotional energy of grace enriches life through beauty, benevolence, and nobility.

 

• Gate 12 – Standstill – Remaining inactive until the time is right.

 

• Gate 11 – Harmony – As harmony emanates out into the world, small ideas can yield big returns.

 

Now, the Unconscious Sun has moved into Gate 12, and those of you familiar with Human Design will know that Gates 12 and 22 make up a Channel, specifically the Individual Manifesting Channel that manifests emotion. And people with this Channel will know that they have a tendency to do things that won’t necessarily earn them a pat on the back. They’re going to do something different. It’s a very individual expression of emotion. People with this Life Theme have had the realization of what it is that can mostly benefit people. They know where

To find the doorways other people can’t see. And with the Unconscious Earth in the Gateway 11—which has the quality of peace and harmony and is flowing with ideas and ways in which we can all get along with each other—this really is a special Life Theme, one that can guide humanity toward massive improvements when the Sun tips into the 4th line of Gate 47.

 

The Interpersonal Life Theme: Informing

Now the Sun goes into the 5th and 6th lines of Gates 47, and we find ourselves in the Interpersonal Life Theme of “Informing”. Now, you might be wondering how on earth we’ve got to the word “informing” here. What has happened is we’ve gone into a Manifesting Design just with the four Sun/Earth points. 12-22 is a Manifesting Channel, and Manifestors will find that it benefits their lives greatly if they let people know just a little bit of what it is they’re up to.

This Life Theme can bring tremendous benefit to people. It can open all kinds of doorways and possibilities, but if the Manifestor in question is just going it alone without informing people about what they’re doing and why, they can run into some pushback and stifle their own expansive potential.

There’s a need for inclusion here. Gate 12 calls you to stop and pay attention, to have another look and reevaluate, while Gate 11 says, “Come on. We can work in harmony here. We can bring this all together”. So, the great value of this Life Theme is in bringing about and sharing information with people, and showing them that there are other possibilities. That we don’t have to be stuck with just one way of going through life.
