Last time, we explored the Life Themes with the Sun in Gateway 1, known as the Gateway of “Creativity”. Now the Sun has moved into Gate 43, the Gateway of “Insight” and “Breakthrough”. It’s in the Mind Center, but we might say it’s in the Third Eye Center, because it’s a Gateway that’s highly attuned to picking up on things that others might not see.
So, with that, let’s have a look at the Human Design Life Themes associated with Gateway 43:
The Personal Life Theme: Explanation

- Gate 43 – Breakthrough – Receiving new perceptions and reforming old ways and habits.
- Gate 23 – Assimilation – Peeling away the non-essential to reveal what is substantial.
- Gate 4 – Mental Solutions – The pursuit of the right solutions and the right timing for them.
- Gate 49 – Revolution – Abolishing the “old” and supporting a “new” which is aligned with certain principles.
So, people with this Life Theme will know that they have to be very particular in how they express things because they have a tendency to just blurt things out. They get an impulse from the mind, the third eye, and all of a sudden out it comes. So, the question is how do we translate this into something that people can actually understand?
It’s important to remember that the message itself is almost as important as the way it’s delivered. Tone of voice, wording, frequency—these things make a big difference in whether or not people can digest what it is you’re saying. So, people with this Life Theme would do well to learn speech skills.
Now, we also have the Unconscious Sun in Gate 4, the Gateway of “Mental Solutions”, and the Unconscious Earth in Gate 49, the Gateway of “Revolution”. So, the 4th Gateway is all about providing quick fixes, it comes up with all kinds of different possibilities. At the same time, Gate 49 is about doing away with the old paradigm or agenda and finding the new one that’s going to actually work for us. So, people with this Life Theme can really lay things out in a completely different way. They don’t necessarily give people the answers they’re looking for, but they offer insight that opens up new possibilities.
Notable people with this Life Theme: King Charles, Whoopi Goldberg, Anne Hathaway, Grace Kelly, Ryan Gosling, Neil Young
The Fixed Life Theme: Insight

- Gate 43 – Breakthrough – Receiving new perceptions and reforming old ways and habits.
- Gate 23 – Assimilation – Peeling away the non-essential to reveal what is substantial.
- Gate 29 – Commitment/The Automatic “Yes” – Making commitments from a place of grounded sincerity.
- Gate 30 – The Clinging Fire – The infinite and unshakeable quality of desire.
Now the Unconscious Sun has moved into Gate 29, the Gateway of “Commitment”, also known as the Gateway of “The Automatic ‘Yes’”. It wants to say Yes, it wants to get on with things. There’s a drive, a push to get things going. Then we have the Unconscious Earth in Gate 30, “The Clinging Fire” which is the Gateway of Desire, that burning desire within. So, people with this Life Theme can get really intense when it comes to trying to express themselves. They have something powerful to share, and an intense desire to share it. But this internal pressure can make it difficult to get it out in a coherent way.
Again, it comes down to speech skills, tone of voice, and then recognizing whether or not you have an audience that’s capable of hearing what you have to share. Can you communicate from a place of engagement rather than from a place of pressure? Can you recognize whether your audience is leaning in when you speak or if they’re having trouble getting what it is you’re trying to transmit?
The Interpersonal Life Theme: Dedication

We’ve still got the Unconscious Sun and Gate 29, which urges us to commit and engage our energy, and the Unconscious Earth in the 30th Gateway, the Gateway of desires, which tells us there’s really something powerful here to be experienced. And after all, what are we here for in life except to have amazing life experiences? What are we here for except to transform our lives by really recognizing and honoring our own unique frequency? We’re here to find that frequency and live it to the max. And—this being an Interpersonal Life Theme—we’re here to present this as a possibility for other people to live very full and fulfilling lifetimes.
Notable people with this Life Theme: Peter Cook, Rock Hudson, Martin Scorsese, Georgia O’Keeffe
