Last time, we explored Gateway 40, known as the Gate of “Deliverance”.  Now, the Sun has moved on into Gateway 64, the Gateway of “Diverse Possibilities”. Right next door to 64 is Gate 47, and those of you familiar with Human Design will know that this Channel (64-47) is very common, probably the fourth most common Channel that shows up in Human Design. In simple terms, this Channel is involved in making sense out of life. But the difficulty with trying to make sense out of life is life doesn’t necessarily make sense. So, all we can do is join the dots between the past and the present. We look at the reference points to determine whether or not something that happened in the past is still relevant today. And Gate 64 is very much involved in this process.

So, with that in mind, let’s have a look at the Human Design Life Themes associated with Gateway 64:

The Personal Life Theme: Consciousness

Now, with the Sun in Gate 64, opening up the Personal Life Theme of “Consciousness”.  64 is the Gateway I call “Diverse Possibilities”, but the traditional translation from the I-Ching is “before completion”. Just before you wrap up something or other, it’s important to check that you’ve covered and included all the aspects of the job. So, in the broader sense it’s about checking out every conceivable possibility about all the different experiences that can happen in life. On the other side, the Earth is in Gate 63, the Gateway of “Doubts”, which is a Gateway of “after completion”. right? So, there’s a tension of sorts between these two Hexagrams, they’re exact opposites in terms of yin and yang.

• Gate 64 – Diverse Possibilities – Pressure to find a balance despite the impossibility of perfect equilibrium or absolute correctness.

• Gate 63 – Doubts – Constantly refreshing your view in a world of continuous change.

• Gate 35 – Progress – Advancing, through experience, in an unceasing drive to explore every aspect of human nature.

• Gate 5 – Waiting – All aspects of life are subject to the rhythm and timing of the Universe.

On the Unconscious side we have the Sun in Gate 35, the Gateway of “Progress,” which is always looking to move on and explore new life experiences. The Unconscious Earth is in Gate 5, the Gateway of “Waiting,” and it’s the Gateway of Universal timing, which is always tuned in to the rhythm and timing of nature.

This is the Life Theme of “Consciousness”, and it’s really an extraordinary Life Theme of checking out all the possibilities and making sure we’ve considered everything, of sensing the progress in life, of seeking to learn from our experiences, leaving nothing out. It’s a Life Theme of expanding, drawing all the wisdom and knowledge from whatever life has produced before and determining what it is that brings fulfillment.  It wants to find the limits of experience, but the more we get involved in life the more we realize it just keeps going. The journey of life and the expansion of consciousness just go on and on forever.

The Fixed Life Theme: Multiplicities

The Sun moves on into the 4th line of Gates 64 and 63, which brings us into the Fixed Life Theme I like to call “Multiplicities”. We could also call it the Life Theme of “Confusion” but it depends on who’s living it, because multiplicities can include all kinds of different actions and possibilities in life.

• Gate 64 – Diverse Possibilities – Pressure to find a balance despite the impossibility of perfect equilibrium or absolute correctness.

• Gate 63 – Doubts – Constantly refreshing your view in a world of continuous change.

• Gate 45 – The King or Queen – Gathering together that which best supports a strong community.

• Gate 26 – Accumulation – Harnessing willpower and committing to great accomplishments and substantial rewards.

Now, the Unconscious Sun has moved into Gate 45, the Gateway of “the King or Queen,” who always has the last word on things. The Unconscious Earth is in Gate 26, the Gateway of “Accumulation”, which seeks out those things which have greatest potential value in life.

In this Theme of Multiplicities all kinds of different things are possible. So, if you have this Life Theme it’s important to stay balanced and remain clear in yourself. All 4th lines, but particularly 4th lines with the Conscious Sun and Earth in Gates 64 and 63, have great potential to be very influential, so it’s important that you are able to take responsibility for, and be very clear about, whatever it is that wants to come through you in this realm of multiplicities. Anything is possible here. It’s a great opportunity for us to expand our horizons, to test our limits and see what it is that life wants to offer us in our journey toward fulfillment.

The Interpersonal Life Theme: Dominion

Now the Sun goes into the 5th and 6th lines of Gates 64, and we find ourselves in the Interpersonal Life Theme of “Dominion”. And again, we’ve got the Unconscious Sun in Gate 45 and the Unconscious Earth in 26. And Gate 26 is where we sort out what it is we really want, what is it that really holds value for us amongst all the things that are thrown at us in this lifetime. And then Gate 45 is where we see—after we’ve zeroed in on what has value for us—how exactly we’re going to put that out into the world. Again, Gate 45 is the King or Queen, the Ruler, and as such it has the final word on things.

When we talk about “Dominion”, it’s important to keep in mind we’re in the 5/1, 5/2, 6/2, and 6/3 Profiles here. These are the ones that have the possibility to shape the reality around us, to give guidance, to help clean up what it is that can be cleaned up. Dominion is about taking up a stance, taking charge of your life, figuring out where you can expand, what to pull into your life out of the diverse possibilities available to you, and what really holds value, not just for you, but for everybody. This particular Life Theme has the great ability to tune into what it is that humanity’s really looking for and sorting out ways to bring more of it into our experience.
