What new possibilities are on the horizon for you? What does your Human Design Chart say about the fresh inspiration coming your way? And when these new possibilities arise, how do you know which ones are right for you?

Last time, we explored Hexagram 40, which showed us how we find our places and affirm our value within our families and our communities. Now, the sun is moving into Gate 64, which we call, “Diverse Possibilities.”

The 64 is a gateway of inspiration in life. It’s a Gateway of new possibilities opening up all around you. In the traditional I Ching, it’s called, “Before Completion,” which you might think of as those moments in life when you’re running up to completing something and you think to yourself, “Did I include everything? Have I got the whole story here? Is there anything missing?”

This is why this gateway of possibilities can also be a gateway of potential confusion. As things expand for us, we see that this universe is a lot bigger than we thought it was. And in expansion, there is no perfect equilibrium. It is impossible to put limits on the limitless, and yet there is always the pressure to find a balance.

That’s essentially our whole life experience. We like to be able to make sense out of things. We like to be able to explain things, put labels on them, categorize them, put limits on them. But what we’ll see with the 64th Gateway is that life is always a moving tapestry. Life, and our experiencing of Existence, is a self-fulfilling journey that continues to move to completion, entering into new cycles and spirals. There’s inner stillness, but there’s no such thing as standing still.

So, when the sun goes into the 64, we’re going to have this possibility of shifting our points of view; opening up into other possibilities and seeing other realities that are available and calling to us. All in the process of trying to make sense out of life.

Let’s see what the Human Design Chart has to say about Gate 64:

First Line: Transitioning

The first line is called “Transitioning: Inner resolve leads you towards fulfilling outcomes.” So, as the 64 is offering an abundance of different experiences for us to look at and appreciate and bring into our lives, the first line really wants to get into it. It wants to have the most amazing experience, the most fulfilling outcome.

Relying solely on past perspectives of our life experiences will not bring us fulfillment. The universe keeps on expanding. There will always be more possibilities. So, the bottom line in life is to be fulfilled as oneself. Comparing your current situation to how things were in the past will not help you here. keep opening up, keep going, keep having another look into things.

Here the impulse might be to either stick with that which is already comfortable and harmonious in our lives, or to throw caution to the wind and jump into something new. So, the key is to figure out what is really going to serve you in this moment of expansion. What is really going to bring you fulfillment?

Second Line: Being Dedicated

The second line has a very natural way of going about things. And here, the line is called, “Being Dedicated: Remaining true to your own inner voice.” The great thing with the second line here is that it gives you permission to trust yourself. It tells you to carry on in your own way and trust your own process and your own inner senses, which of course, in your Human Design Chart means trusting your own Type and Authority.

Relying on your own inner harmony, you wait for an inner sense that precedes resolution. In the face of all the possibilities to choose from, the great expanse of opportunities opening up before you, this is a call to be patient. Trust in your own way and sure enough everything will become obvious to you. The resolution will come.

You attune with many aspects of life, sometimes overcommitting yourself unnecessarily. Again, Gateway 64 is offering this expanse—so many options and avenues and opportunities. You might find yourself chasing after every shiny object you see. So, the second line here is all about having the clarity to allow the expanse to open up into things that actually resonate for you. If you remain dedicated to your own natural process, that clarity will come.

Third Line: Restarting

The third line is game for anything. It’s into experimenting. It wants to try things out and see what happens. Here, the line is called “Restarting: Commencing anew when old ways no longer apply.”

It’s quite possible to get into the habit of just getting involved in things for the sake of it. You might try something out, and then try again, and again, and again, until you come to the realization that you’re stuck in a rut. You keep on just repeating the same old way of doing things without getting a different result. And when you keep committing to the same old thing, using the same old tools, there’s never going to be an evolution of any sort.

You need to be clear from the outset in any endeavor and recognize who else has that clarity. You won’t get anywhere by simply going along in the same old patterns with the same old people around you. You need to be clear, and those around you need to be clear as well. This can mean taking a small step back. When you take a momentary pause and wait for renewed clarity and perception, you deliberately transcend confusion. There’s no need to rush into anything. The third line gives you the possibility of making that break and getting out of the pattern of the same old same old.

Fourth Line: Overcoming

The fourth line always wants everybody to join in. It says, “Aren’t you all with me on this? Can we all get the same experience and have the same beliefs?” So naturally, the fourth line has this potential for confusion; the potential that not everybody connects with what the fourth line is seeking to gain. And here, the line is called “Overcoming: All inner struggles require persistence and determination.”

In this case, the inner struggle is figuring out what it is you’re really looking for in this life. For all of us, the answer, when we really get down to it, is to be fulfilled. But what is the pathway there? How do you engage with the things that are going to draw that fulfillment to you?

You need inner principles to transcend confusion and clarify how you’re going to proceed. Thinking is not going to get you there. We can stay confused about anything as long as we’re overthinking. This takes us back to the Human Design Chart, and the Authority. When you really honor your Authority, it’s quite easy to transcend the confusion. You short-circuit the overthinking by taking the energy out of the head and bringing it into the body, where you can access a clearer decision-making process.

You review all cycles of life with a certainty that sooner or later you’ll find realization. We’ve all had moments where everybody is laughing at a joke and you don’t quite get it until hours later when it suddenly dawns on you, and you see what was so funny about it. The fourth line can be like that. You can’t really tune into what it is that’s going to bring you that fulfillment. And then sure enough, in the middle of the night, the light bulb goes on and you can see it clear as day.

Fifth Line: Being Exemplary

The fifth line always has a leadership or teacher role. In this case it’s called, “Being Exemplary: Constantly persistent, you shine brightly from an inner resolve.” You are constantly persistent and persistently constant in your resolve to get to bottom of things. You’re going to find out where life is wanting to take you, and that’s that.

There is an assuredness about you; an inner light that shines brightly. And once you’ve become really clear inside yourself and in tune in your Authority, you realize that your inner light can be shone outwards to disperse other people’s confusions. There’s always the possibility for the fifth line to inspire other people. You can see where other people need guidance or directing. However, there is a flipside to this.

There is a tendency to be overburdened by other people’s confusion. As you light the way for others you run the risk of being caught up in everybody else’s projection of who and what you are and how you’re supposed to fix everything for them. And once you get caught up in constantly rescuing everyone else, you run the risk of losing your own way. And the confusion can set in again if you let it.

Sixth Line: Keeping Your Head

The sixth line can see everything. It sees the myriad possibilities, but it’s quite clear about which ones are relevant. While bombarded with an expanse of options, the sixth line is able to pick out the avenues that are really worthwhile, and recognize which possibilities are going to be fulfilling. Here, the sixth line is called “Keeping your Head: Remaining lucid in celebrating achievements.”

The danger here is in becoming self-indulgent. You celebrate with clarity or lapse into self-indulgence when confusions are resolved. When that light goes on and you’ve managed to clear out whatever confusion has been hanging over your head, it feels good. Celebrate it by all means, but do so with clarity, otherwise you run the risk of getting lost in it.

Your patient brilliance allows you to sort through any amount of chaos and find resolutions. It takes a really clear mind to look at a situation, weigh it up, see what’s involved, and know how to give direction; know how to embrace certain things that are going to bring fulfillment and leave aside the things that are no longer relevant anymore.

You delight in embracing disorder, but ultimately may get lost in the ensuing chaos. All of us have had times in our life when we’ve overcommitted and then we can’t fulfill what we’ve promised to do. Your facility with clearing up disorder for people can lead you to take on all comers. But there is a risk of becoming overwhelmed and losing sight of what it is you’re meant to be doing in the first place. That’s something to keep your eye on as we move through this 64th Gateway in the coming days.
