Last time, we explored the Life Themes with the Sun in Gateway 37, the Gateway of “Family”. Now, we move on into Gateway 63, the Gateway known as “Doubts”. When we think of doubt, we tend to cast it in a negative light. We almost equate it with pessimism. But doubt is really an essential feature of living and being conscious in the world. It has to do with considering our circumstances, examining the facts. If we don’t doubt, we run the risk of overlooking things and/or just going along with what we’ve been told. Doubt allows us to have a deeper look at it all.
With that in mind, let’s have a look at the Human Design Life Themes associated with Gateway 63:
The Personal Life Theme: Consciousness
With the Conscious Sun in Gate 63, we find ourselves in the Personal Life Theme of “Consciousness”. On the Earth side, we have Gate 64, the Gateway I call “Diverse Possibilities”, which invites us to explore the endless expansion of life’s experiences. So while Gate 63 asks us if we’ve considered everything, Gate 64 tells us that there’s always more to consider.
- Gate 63 – Doubts – Critical Perception; Constantly refreshing your view in a world where there is always change.
- Gate 64 – Diverse Possibilities – In expansion there is no absolute correctness and yet there is always a pressure to find balance.
- Gate 5 – Waiting – All aspects of life are subject to the rhythm and timing of the Universe
- Gate 35 – Progress – Advancing, through experience, in an unceasing drive to explore every aspect of human nature.
The Unconscious Sun has moved into Gate 5, the Gateway of “Waiting”, but also of timing and rhythm. It’s the Gateway of the natural expansion of life and consciousness. It’s the regulator; always tuned into the timing of everything that lives. The unconscious earth is in Gate 35, the Gateway of “Progress”, where we’re looking to move things forward, to expand and evolve through our amazing life experiences.
So, there are two Logic Gateways here, (63 and 5), which are always future-oriented, always looking forward. And then we have two Abstract Gateways (35 and 64), which look at where we’ve come from and whether or not we’ve joined all the dots up to this point. So, there’s a kind of balancing act going on in the middle of these two perspectives on life. And the bridge is consciousness. People with this Life Theme will find their whole life is an unending experience, unending expansion. It’s an unending questioning about life: Am I there yet? Have I got everything I need to be there? Have I experienced it all?
Notable people with this Life Theme: Jon Bon Jovi, Jessica Biel, Andy Gibb, Eva Mendes, Joel Osteen, Bernard Arnault
The Fixed Life Theme: Substantiation (Doubts)
The Sun moves on into the fourth line of Gates 63 and 64, and we enter into what some people call the Fixed Life Theme of “Doubt”, but which I prefer to call “Substantiation”. Substantiation really is the flipside of doubt. The whole point of doubting something is to prove its veracity, to substantiate whatever claim is being made.
- Gate 63 – Doubts – Critical Perception; Constantly refreshing your view in a world where there is always change.
- Gate 64 – Diverse Possibilities – In expansion there is no absolute correctness and yet there is always a pressure to find balance.
- Gate 26 – Accumulation – Harnessing willpower and committing to great accomplishments and substantial rewards.
- Gate 45 – The King or Queen – Gathering together that which best supports a strong community.
The Unconscious Sun has gone into the 26th Gateway, which is in the Willpower Center. This is the Gateway of recognizing what does and does not hold value for us in life. So, in this one particular area of this Life Theme, we’re questioning absolutely everything about our lives.
The Unconscious Earth is in Gate 45, the Gateway of “The King or Queen”, the one that draws everything in and pulls all the resources together. So, you can sense the power of this Life Theme. People with this Life Theme want to get to the bottom of things. They want to uncover and embrace the truth. They want to substantiate. Which, on one hand, is the other side of the “doubt” coin, but on the other hand, it does away with doubt altogether, it goes beyond any kind of doubt.
The Interpersonal Life Theme: Dominion
The Sun then moves into the fifth and sixth lines of Gates 63 and 64, and we find ourselves in the Interpersonal Life Theme of “Dominion”. 63 and 64 are two very powerful Gateways. They’re both in the Crown Center, the Center of inspiration, which is always scanning for those things in life that can inspire us, those things that inject our lives with a sense of real, profound meaning. So, people with this Life Theme are constantly expanding other people’s realms of possibility. They’re always offering something different, another way of looking at life. They want to empower people and ensure they’re not just following along with whatever it is they’ve been told to do, or think, or experience.
Again, we have the Unconscious Earth in Gate 45, the Gateway of “The King or Queen”, which is literally telling people to be the sovereign in their own lives, be the one that takes charge, takes responsibility. So, with this Life Theme, we’re given the possibility to really have ownership of our lives and to acknowledge that we’ve been offered a massive smorgasbord. Anything is possible here. There are no limits.
Notable people with this Life Theme: David Gilmour, Alan Greenspan, Shaquille O’Neal, Rachel Weisz.
That’s the essence of the Life Themes associated with the 63rd Gateway. If you want to learn more about Life Themes, you’ll find them all in the Book of Destinies, part of the Human Design Trilogy which is available in all good bookstores and audiobook platforms.
