Last time, we explored the Life Themes with the Sun in Gateway 6, known as the Gate of “Conflict Resolution”.  Now, the Sun has moved on into Gateway 46.  I call this the Gateway of “Serendipity”, but in the traditional I-Ching it’s known as the Gateway of “Pushing Upward into Heaven”. Imagine a little grass seed sprouting and stretching its way upward toward the sunlight. This little sprout doesn’t know it’s only going to be a few inches tall when all is said and done, it’s pushing anyway, climbing upward toward the firmament, up into heaven. And Gate 46 has this huge push within it for all of us.

 

 

I call this Gateway “Serendipity” because it very much involves being in the right place at the right time. You might’ve noticed if you have this Gateway in your Design that wherever you go, people turn their heads. Their eyes are drawn to you. And it’s because you bring that quality of the little green shoot that’s pushing its way to heaven. People pick up on this quality you have, like you’re onto something. You carry a sense of limitless possibility, a sense of luck, a sense of serendipity. But the thing with serendipity is that being in the right place at the right time, while important, is not enough on its own. You also have to have the right attitude. That is the magical ingredient. Only with the right attitude can you actually be ready and open to receive what the Universe is trying to offer you.

 

 

 

So, with that in mind, let’s have a look at the Human Design Life Themes associated with Gateway 46:

 

The Personal Life Theme: The Vessel of Love

Now, the Sun is in Gate 46, which opens up the Personal Life Theme called “The Vessel of Love”. But we’re talking about a very particular type of love: love of the temple, love of the body, love of the vehicle and all its attributes that carry us through life. It’s the love of the extraordinary experiences we’re all invited to have on this planet, in this body, provided we’re ready to engage with whatever life wants to give us.

 

On the Conscious Earth side, we have Gate 25, the Gateway of “Innocence”. All of us are born innocent. You could say there are certain factors in our Human Design charts that are going to make us interact with life in particular ways (some more “innocent” than others), but at the core of things, we’re born innocent. And we return to this state of innocence when we die. We might pick up a lot of baggage from the challenges we face in life, but once we check out at the end of our stay here in this world, we have to let it all go.  So, the Vessel of Love is always a reminder of that innocent childlike quality of life.

 

• Gate 46 – Serendipity – Growth comes from being in the right place at the right time with the right attitude.

 

• Gate 25 – Innocence – Our natural state of inherent trust, honesty and presence.

 

• Gate 15 – Humanity – In all of life’s possible extremes, there is a place and role for everyone.

 

• Gate 10 – Behavior – Finding one’s pace and place throughout the twists and challenges of life.

 

On the Unconscious side we have the Sun in Gate 15, the Gateway of “Humility”, “Modesty”, and “Trust”. Gate 15 is exemplified by having time for everybody. Nobody is more important than anybody else. It carries this sensation of love—love of humanity, love of life itself, love of the pulse of life and everybody one meets along the way.

On the other side, the Unconscious Earth is in Gate 10, the Gateway of “Behavior”, also known as “Treading on the tail of the tiger”. This Gateway is all about how we respond when life throws challenges in our path? Can you accept them, engage with them, and face them head-on? Again, it comes down to attitude. If that Gateway 46 is in a really good space, ready for whatever life throws its way, then Gate 10 can immediately engage with challenges in ways that will bring about positive growth.

So, Gate 46 opens up the whole experience of this season of awareness, healing, health, and wellbeing as it opens the doorway to all the Gates of the Spleen Center. And if you have this Life Theme of the Vessel of Love, you are an ambassador for these things. You’ll know this about yourself; wherever you go, you help people get it together. People know they can relax a little bit around you. They can feel it, because you bring that quality of love.

The Fixed Life Theme: Serendipity

The Sun moves on into the fourth line of Gate 46 which brings us into the Fixed Life Theme of “Serendipity”.

Now, the Unconscious Sun has moved into Gate 52, the Gate called “Mountain” where we find a sense of stillness, presence, and inner calm. And the Unconscious Earth has moved into Gateway 58, where we experience joy and the celebration of life.

 

• Gate 46 – Serendipity – Growth comes from being in the right place at the right time with the right attitude.

 

• Gate 25 – Innocence – Our natural state of inherent trust, honesty and presence.

 

• Gate 52 – Mountain – Stillness, patience, and presence provide perspective on all life’s circumstances.

 

• Gate 58 – Joyous Vitality – Embracing the great power and delight of expressing joy and celebrating life.

 

The Unconscious Sun in Gateway 58 marks the beginning of a new sequence of experiences in our lives, and it’s basically saying to us, “why do anything if there’s no fun in it?” It’s a call to find the fun in whatever it is that we do. At the same time, the Unconscious Earth in Gate 52 brings an inner calm that influences those around you. And the serendipity of it all is just in being available—available for that fun, available for that ride, available for whatever the experience might be. Trust yourself in this space, in being up for the ride, and also in being influential, as all fourth lines can be. You have the ability to point out the great possibilities that are open to people in life if they make themselves available, if they have the right attitude.

 

The Interpersonal Life Theme: Healing

 The next series of Gateways are all going to be in the Spleen Center, which has everything to do with our sense of health and wellbeing. And this particular Interpersonal Life Theme of “Healing” happens only four days out of the year—two days at this time, two days in the Spring. So, it’s quite a magical Life Theme in that it brings this powerful quality of healing into the world in such a brief little window.

Now the Sun has gone into the fifth and sixth lines of Gates 46, and the fifth line in particular has the ability to offer teaching or guidance on what it really means to be well, to be healthy, to be present.

I know a number of people with this particular Life Theme, and it’s often the case that they don’t necessarily know they have this quality of bringing healing wherever they go. I tease them sometimes that they could go into a doctor’s office, and by the time they’ve left, all the sick and injured people sitting in the waiting room have had some kind of healing taking place. It’s just the quality of energy they bring with them—that stillness, that joyfulness, that innocent quality of serendipity.

People with this Life Theme, even though they have this natural healing energy, often don’t really know what this quality is until they face challenges in their own health or in the health of somebody close to them. And then they have the capacity to go really deeply into what needs to happen in order to bring about a complete resurgence of health and wellbeing. Then this natural ability becomes a little more explicit and they recognize that they’ve got the means to bring healing in many ways.

So, some very powerful things are happening as we enter into this fall season in the Northern Hemisphere and the spring season and the Southern Hemisphere. And we’ll see that all the next Hexagrams are in the Spleen Center. So, in various ways they’ll all be involved in our awareness, health and wellbeing.
