Last time, we explored the Human Design Life Themes with the Sun in Gateway 36, the Gateway of “Crisis Resolution”. Now, we move on into Gateway 25, the Gateway known as “Innocence”. All of us are born innocent. But, as life goes on, we get undergo all kinds of conditioning. We get mixed up in the chaos of the world. And certain factors in our lives make us interact in particular ways, some more “innocent” than others. We pick up a lot of baggage from the challenges we face on our journey, but at the end of our lives, we have to let it all go and return to this state of innocence.
So, this is a reminder that innocence is our true nature. That no matter what happens to us in life, we accept it, withstand it and pass through it with our innocent nature intact.
With that in mind, let’s have a look at the Human Design Life Themes associated with Gateway 25:
The Personal Life Theme: The Vessel of Love
With the Conscious Sun in Gate 25, we find ourselves in the Personal Life Theme of “The Vessel of Love”. The Conscious Earth is in Gate 46, which I call “Serendipity”, the Gateway of being in the right place at the right time and with the essential ingredient: the right attitude, ready for whatever life presents. And it’s also the Gateway of appreciating the body, the temple that our consciousness inhabits and which carries us through this extraordinary life experience.
Gate 25 – Innocence – Our natural state of inherent trust, honesty and presence.
Gate 46 – Serendipity – Growth comes from being in the right place at the right time with the right attitude.
Gate 10 – Behavior – Finding one’s pace and place throughout the twists and challenges of life.
Gate 15 – Humanity – In all of life’s possible extremes, there is a place and role for everyone.
The Unconscious Sun is in Gate 10, “Behaviors.” In the original I-Ching, it’s called “treading on the tail of the tiger”, which basically means, every now and again there’s a situation that comes out of the blue, a challenge to be faced. How are you going to deal with it? Are you going to run away, or embrace it and find a way through it?
Gate 15 is this Gateway of “Humanity”, the love of humanity and you might even say the love of everything in life. So, these four Gateways in the Vessel of Love are really showing us that love is the only game in town, plain and simple. And we get this reminder four times a year to reacquaint ourselves with love, no matter what is going on in the world around us. No matter what kind of judgements we might have about things, can we reacquaint ourselves with love? Can we get to that space again, and particularly now, remember our innocence?
People with this Life Theme could be called ambassadors of love. That’s their presence in life. Wherever they go, that’s just the quality they bring with them. They have a knack for making us see that we’re all in this boat together. That we can all get along, and we can all be in love with life.
Notable people with this Life Theme: Edgar Cayce, Glenn Close, William Shatner, Elton John, Bruce Willis, George Benson
The Fixed Life Theme: Innocence
The Sun moves on into the fourth line of Gates 25 and 46, and we enter the Fixed Life Theme of “Innocence”. People with this Life Theme have a profound sense of trust in life. No matter what happens to them, they keep trusting.
Gate 25 – Innocence – Our natural state of inherent trust, honesty and presence.
Gate 46 – Serendipity – Growth comes from being in the right place at the right time with the right attitude.
Gate 58 – Joyous Vitality – Embracing the great power and delight of expressing joy and celebrating life.
Gate 52 – Mountain – Stillness, patience, and presence provide perspective on all life’s circumstances.
The Unconscious Sun is in Gateway 58, the Gateway of Joy and “Joyous Vitality”, a celebration of life. And on the Unconscious Earth side, we have Gate 52, the Gateway of “Mountain”, which offers stillness and calm. So, this Life Theme is about embracing life, and being a witness and participant in spreading the concept of love into the world.
The Interpersonal Life Theme: Healing
The Sun then moves into the fifth and sixth lines of Gates 25 and 46, and we find ourselves in the Interpersonal Life Theme of “Healing”. When you consider the human body, this physical form that we’ve been given, one of the amazing qualities of this vessel is that it has a self-repairing mechanism. It has an immune system that can recognize challenges and then formulate how to bring about healing.
Now, on the Unconscious Sun side, that we’ve got Gate 58, the Gateway of Joy. And one of the foundational qualities of life is to bring the joy, bring the fun, bring the sensation that this is an extraordinary possibility we’ve been given here.
On the Unconscious Earth side, we have Gate 52, “Mountain” the Gateway of stillness and calm. Which asks the question, can we find the inner stillness? Can we recognize that we have the ability to bring healing to ourselves? It’s just a question of working out what is it that’s out of balance in life and how to bring that balance in, how to trust in life.
So, it’s a very powerful Life Theme. People who have this Life Theme should be aware that they often have to embrace a personal illness at some point in life. And it can be quite a serious one, maybe not the easiest thing for your average doctor to fix. They have to do the research and find out for themselves what’s going on. They have to find the right practices and healers who can point them towards healing themselves.
My experience with people who have this Life Theme is that they bring the healing with them, and they often don’t even know it’s happening. Wherever they go, they take on other people’s discomforts. So, they have to be really clear about this, about keeping it out of their own system and not taking on every illness they encounter, but instead being the catalyst for the healing to take place in the world around them.
Notable people with this Life Theme: Steve McQueen, Reese Witherspoon, Wilhelm Reich, Keisha Castle-Hughes
